Irritable bowel syndrome (IBS) is characterized by symptoms of abdominal discomfort or pain, usually in the lower abdomen, chronic or recurrent diarrhea, constipation, or both in alternation. Conventional treatment is extremely limited. There are three innovative, non-conventional tests that everyone with this syndrome should have. We have put them together in our IBS program. The first test is called a 'Small Intestine Bacterial Overgrowth Breath Test'. This novel test measures excess bacteria in a part of the small intestine that cannot be evaluated by any standard diagnostic imaging. However, up to 80% of people who suffer with IBS have high levels of bacteria in this part fo the digestive tract. This test measures gases in the persons breath after swallowing a sugar-containing drink.

The second test is a Food Sensitivity Panel. Unlike traditional food allergies, these reactions can occur up to three days after consuming the foods. Nearly 100% of people with Irritable bowel Syndrome have food sensitivities. Being so common and hard to detect, we have included this test in our program. Each person will have a different array of foods that will aggravate their symptoms. Only through testing can a person surely know which foods, he or she is sensitive to.

The third test that our IBS Program includes is a test that measures the level of beneficial bacteria. We know that the 'good' bacteria play a vital role in our body's health. They aid our immune system by preventing harmful bacteria and yeast from growing. They also help with digestion. In IBS, it is very common to see an imbalance in the gut flora. This can be remedied with certain foods and supplements. The test is a stool test performed at home and is sent via mail directly to the laboratory.
